Great Plains Theatre Conference Has Begun
Great initiative was taken to celebrate the 10th annual Great Plains Theatre Conference, and renowned playwrights of the past are returning to be a part of this conference. The event took place in Omaha this weekend. The event has already started and it will continue till 30th May. The entire conference is centered on the development of a new play and it has been headquartered on the Omaha Campus of the Metropolitan Community College. The main reason for this was that the president of the college is actively involved in the conference.
Several famous playwrights including Kia Corthron, Lee Blessing, Dough Wright and many more are part of this event. They are here to critique new works and plays. In addition to that, they will also make efforts to read their works. In this year, total 29 plays were selected from 578 submissions. These selected plays will be performed in stage readings. The playwrights would get feedbacks from directors, scholars, master playwrights and even the public.
The workshop is in progress, and there will be opportunities in writing and acting for many new and enthusiastic playwrights. The workshop is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required for the process. The top-ranked new play submissions include “The Wolves”, “This Flat Earth”, “Akuma-Shin”, “Washington Place” and others. Each of these plays has different themes and plots and these would surely turn out to be a great source of enthusiasm to the viewers. The combination of these things will make the event a success.
